Therapeutic escapes (Acupuncture) - TCM Week

According to many Traditional Chinese Practitioners, with just acupuncture and cupping, half the ill people trying it can be healed. This time with acupuncture otherwise known as needling; it is a pretty world renowned form of healing. Being one of the oldest and most common alternative methods, it usually is accompanied with other treatments as well such as cupping or physical therapy. Believed to be originating from China during around 1100 B.C, it was introduced and popularized in the 1970's.

Acupuncture was started due to stimulation of specific skin areas affecting certain physiological functioning inside your body. With millions of visits to acupuncture appoints in America alone, it is considered one of the most popular alternative methods for healing. In basic explanations, acupuncture is when you insert and move needles into your skin, tissue and muscles at specific "acupuncture" points all over your body. With most Traditional Chinese Practitioners stating there are up to TWO THOUSAND points on your body, all of which can be linked together. These points are connected by meridians which balance yin and yang, and the qi throughout your body. In more scientific explanations it balances your parasympathetic nervous system and sympathetic nervous system, and also aids with neural transmission. There are even times where electrical currents are applied to the needles which can further stimulate the points rather than moving the needle itself.

Scientifically there is evidence as well that acupuncture can aid your health conditions! With studies being done, it has been shown to aid with chronic pain issues like arthritis or headaches as well! Especially in the short term, it can have a very great affect while side-effects are kept to a minimum so long as the needles are properly cleaned or disposed of. It can even aid with nausea and vomiting, dental pain, labour pain, and menstrual cramps too! As with many people some of our team are scared of needles but surprisingly they are not painful at all and actually feel very nice with most of us going when injured! We hope you try it soon if you have not!
