Beef Congee- Rice Week

An absolute classic which can be found and practically any Cantonese restaurant is beef congee. It is tasty and simple to make while being very nutritious as well. Congee has such a long history and can be traced back to ancient times in not just Hong Kong but many other countries too! Rice is nourishing for muscles and tissues and are said to improve your bodies qi. With an abundance of anti-oxidants, vitamin E, B1, fibre and many other vitamins and minerals as well; it is an absolute weapon of mass health benefit. Not to mention reduction in risks for type 2 diabetes, stroke and heart disease!

Ingredients
-Rice
-Water
-Soy Sauce
-Beef slices
-Dried Scallop
-Green onion
-Sugar
-Pepper/Salt
-Corn Flour
Recipe
1. Marinate beef with soy sauce, a dash of sugar, and also corn flour
2. Cut dried scallop and green onion
3. Wash your rice, then leave it soaking in water for at least half an hour. (1 cup rice to 20 cup water)
4. Take out the rice, and then pour the water into a pot, adding more if necessary. Bring it to a boil, then add dried scallop and green onion.
5. Simmer until the rice is fully cooked.
6. Add in sugar, beef and mix it in
7. Once the sugar is melted, you are ready to enjoy! Season with pepper/salt if you like and also garnish with green onion
