Cereal. It is simple. Healthy (at least in some cases). Fast. Delicious. Cereal is a classic Western way to kick start your day with numerous options with the milk, the actual cereal and even accompanying objects. The milk itself can be so delicious as well with celebrated chef Christina Tosi even using it as a staple named "cereal milk" in many recipes. With the cereal itself you can get the more unhealthy ones that kids love and we too love at times with its sugar and fun colours! Either that or you could get healthy ones with fibre or other properties such as bran to go with it. Accompanying all this could be so many things such as our personal favourite fruit but not only that you can actually add walnuts! One of our favourites is a combination of a low sugar/high fibre cereal, strawberries and blueberries. and walnuts!
Walnuts offer a huge mix of benefits and its effects are strengthened when eaten in the morning. In Eastern beliefs, walnuts improve your qi especially in your kidneys as it stores energy from before you were born! While Western beliefs have walnuts as an extremely healthy food as well. It has been proven to be great for weight-loss as it aids your digestioni and gut. Not only that but it can reduce risk of cancer and diabetes 2, enhance your blood pressure, and is a great source of Omega-3, anti-oxidants, anti-inflammatories.
Other than Walnuts there are strawberries which are a mixed bag of vitamins, especially with an abundance of vitamin C, manganese, vitamin B9 and anti-oxidants. They can help boost your immune system, lower your cholesterol, maintain healthy vision, blood pressure and less wrinkles, and more importantly boost your fibre intake. Boosting your fibre intake meshes perfectly with your fibre filled cereal and that makes it such a killer combo. Blueberries are pretty much the best anti-oxidant, are low in calories, and can protect you from cholesterol issues, cancer, and even heart issues! We hope you enjoy one of our favourite combinations on this week of Walnuts!
