Ginger beer for a Ginger week- Ginger Week

Updated: Apr 17, 2020

One of the most entertaining things for many people is the use of alcohol. Whether it is a rowdy night out in town or just a casual dinner, so many people love drinking beer! One of the tough aspects of beer is the reputation it has for inciting anger in people. However, in most studies done on beer drinkers, around half of the people citing relaxation and very little feeling actual anger. Though we do not recommend heavy drinking all the time; we do believe a drink or two every now and then is such an amazing way to kick back! Furthermore, just like most alcoholic drinks, beer is such a great socializer. Whether it is the fact that it loosens our inhibitions and lets us speak more; it is a great conversational piece. People and friends can just go out for a "brewski" and sit and talk much like people do with other social drinks like wine, coffee and tea! However, currently most ginger beers actually do not have alcohol content!

Spanning back to 500BC ginger was used as have said before but it was only as it spread to Western civilization that it became ginger beer! Stereotypically drank in the Victorian era, the drink spanned anywhere from 4 to 11% in alcohol content. Nowadays, ginger beer similar to ginger ale does not have alcohol content. That being said it still gives a punch and can be made into a cocktail by many. When making ginger beer, you need sugar, lemon, ginger, water and some yeast; however, due to potential complications we will not be giving a recipe to brew. We will be showing another popular form of ginger beer, which is the cocktail "Moscow Mule" !

All you need is ginger, vodka and lime! You can also use mint as a garnish if desired

1. Put crushed ice into a mug (preferably copper if you want better temperature and tradition)

2. Put in fresh lime juice and a shot or two of vodka

3. Fill the rest in with ginger beer! Then serve with a lime slice/wedge and mint!

Simply enough right!? What you do not know though is the healthy aspect of ginger beer itself though! Other than being refreshing it is known to give most of the benefits that you would find with just ginger. Many people drink ginger beer to feel less nauseous which in our opinion is a lot nicer than drinking pills or whatnot! Also as per usual it is an anti-inflammatory and even anti-bacterial. Though inconclusive, it has even show to lower cancer risk and slow aging at times! So please try to give ginger beer a try and you might just like it more than coca-cola or other pops! Here are some of our favourites to get you started!
