Carrots are such a common household ingredient throughout the world but unbeknownst to many; it is actually very healthy. Carrots can be eaten so many ways and in so many recipes, and are easily found at any market. There are four main types of carrots: Danvers, Nantes, Chantenay, Imperators, and Mini carrots. Danvers are the carrots in which most people imagine when thinking of carrots. Nantes (named after city in France) are described as cylindrical and round at the top while there are around 40 carrots under this category. Chantenay are similar to Nantes carrots as they are easily plantable in tougher soils because of their bigger size. It is essential to harvest them when they reach a certain length for better flavour; however, they are extremely storable. Imperators are the most common being the usual carrot you would find in your stereotypical supermarket. This is due to them being wider and also faster growing while having longer roots. Mini carrots are the adorable, and roughly 3 inch long carrots which can be snacked on and grown in a container!
We love carrots due to how easily they can be incorporated into your everyday meal. Carrots are known in the Traditional Medicine world as a "mini ginseng" due to its' high amount of nutrition much similar to ginseng. Furthermore, they are much cheaper, and represent "sweetness and neutralizes your lung" according to Traditional Chinese Medicine. It is great for coughing and indigestion, and to strengthen your spleen whether it is weak from pregnancy, diabetes or just plain old puberty. According to Eastern medicine practitioners, carrots may cool your blood, to help with liver, kidney, blood and yin deficiency. Furthermore, they release internal heat as people are stressed or have a poor diet can benefit from eating more carrots. Carrots are recommended to be cooked in most medicinal books due to its' difficult to digest state when raw. It is one of the foods in which many consider underrated as a health option with its' abilities even including helping strengthen lungs for consistent smokers as the carrot's benefits can include:
